Yard Debris Recycling
RED days, GREEN days...
NOTE: Walker Garbage serves customers in several jurisdictions—unincorporated Washington County, Beaverton, and Portland. Each jurisdiction has different yard debris pickup schedules and policies.
Beaverton
Customers in Beaverton receive WEEKLY pickup of yard debris.
Portland
Portland customers receive WEEKLY pickup of yard debris. In Portland, food scraps and certain other paper material is also allowed in the yard debris container. More information is available on Portland's website: www.portlandcomposts.com
Unincorporated Washington County
Unincorporated Washington County customers receive every-other-week yard debris service. See the calendar below to determine
your pickup days.
If
you are unsure when yard debris is collected on
your street, take a look at what your neighbors are doing, call the office at 503-531-6330, or email us with your street address. There is no way at this time to give you this information on the website, because routes overlap neighborhoods, and a map would be very difficult to read.
On your yard debris day, please use your supplied Yard Debris Cart as your primary set-out. If you need a cart, use our Change of Service form to request one. The first one is included in your monthly service rate and we'll deliver it on your next collection day.
Any additional yard debris is charged extra. The charge in Washington County is $2.86 for each additional can,
bag, or bundle (Portland
residents $3.75, Beaverton residents $3.00). You can set out additional yard debris in a
kraft paper yard debris bag (no plastic bags), a bundle of yard trimmings, or a separate can (labeled as yard debris)
for pickup. Please make sure to also set out your rollcart with the additional material since the truck is automated and we will be unable to service the material without the rollcart. If you regularly have more than one rollcart's worth of yard debris, you can request an additional rollcart but you will be charged for the cart. Call the office at 503-531-6330for more information.
During the cold months, yard debris will often freeze inside of the rollcart. Please use the paper yard debris bags to ensure that the material does not freeze to the sides of the container. If material does freeze in the container, please call or email with your address and we'll take double the material for no charge on your next yard debris service day.
Christmas Tree Recycling: please cut up your tree so it all fits inside your yard debris cart with the top closed. Any tree parts left beside the bin will be charged as extra material.
